One of the best places in Western New York to get a little comic relief is Helium, 30 Mississippi St., Buffalo. Helium books national acts; coming up soon are appearances by top comics such as comedian and author Jen Kirkman, Comedy Central Special star and actor Godfrey and touring comedian Gary Gulman.
Kirkman, author of the recently published book “I Know What I’m Doing & Other Lies I Tell Myself (Dispatches from a Life Under Construction),” stars in a currently streaming Netflix Original Comedy Special that was on everyone’s list of the top 10 stand-up specials.
Besides working on comedy stages throughout the world, Godfrey has starred in his own Comedy Central Special and appeared in “Zoolander,” “30 Rock” and “Louie.”
Gulman, a New York comedian who’s originally from Boston, has toured for two decades, starred in three TV specials and made three comedy albums.
Besides bringing in national talent, Helium hosts an open mic night every Tuesday for aspiring funny men and women. Enjoy dinner before the show at Elements restaurant in the Helium complex. You can even sign up for comedy classes to perfect your own joke-telling techniques.
