America’s Favorite Place? It’s Buffalo, of course!

Sep 21, 2016

Buffalo beat out cities such as San Antonio, Texas; Providence, Rhode Island; and Norfolk, Virginia; and Nashville, Tennessee, the second, third fourth and fifth-place winners.

“Buffalo impressed readers with everything from its affordability to its surprising, high-end dining,” the magazine wrote. Buffalo scored high in all categories, and people said they thought Buffalo’s been wildly underrated.

Buffalo buzzes with life, the magazine noted, from the Canalside district, where Buffalonians enjoy fitness, recreational and entertainment activities, to the RiverWorks project, the city’s new boating, sports, music and entertainment destination on the banks of the Buffalo River.

Buffalonians love that there are distinct neighborhoods throughout the city that give it a neighborly feel. Lovely areas like the Elmwood Village district sport well-kept-up historic homes, art galleries, great restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques, and a walkability that you don’t always find in American cities.

Of course, Buffalo’s park system, created by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, got high marks from Travel & Leisure Readers. Beautiful Delaware Park is the crown jewel of the system, with its meadows, lake and woods, and pathways that lead you through nearly 350 acres of natural beauty.

The one category in which Buffalo enthusiasts ranked the city a bit lower was weather. Yes, we do get snowstorms in the winter, but spring, summer and fall are heavenly! And winter weather seldom keeps Buffalonians from their favorite pursuits—as Travel & Leisure notes, you can even rent an ice bike or enjoy skating at the Canalside ice rink!

Canterbury Woods Gates Circle, Western New York’s newest continuing care retirement community, is under construction near both Elmwood Village’s shopping district and Delaware Park. Residents of this unique concept in retirement living will have easy access to the urban excitement of Buffalo’s downtown, too—world-class concerts, theater, museums, major sports events and much more.

But there will be plenty to do at home as well—cocktails with friends and neighbors in the beautiful sixth-floor lounge, formal or casual dining, classes, lectures, fitness activities and just enjoying the gorgeous, luxury apartment homes that will be tailored to your tastes and preferences.

Canterbury Woods Gates Circle represents the very finest in life plan retirement living—a place where you can create your perfect retirement lifestyle.

There’s only one way that you can become eligible to live in one of these highly desirable apartment homes, and that is to join the Priority Wait List. Getting on the list puts you in position to be offered an elegant Gates Circle apartment—but you’re under no obligation to accept until you’re ready, so there’s no risk to you.
