It’s what makes them say, “I’m Still Me.”

A Place Where You Can Continue Being Yourself

Senior living is not about changing who you are — it is about creating a lifestyle that supports the person you have always been. Whether enjoying a wellness class, pursuing a musical interest, joining a social gathering, being creative in the art studio, connecting with nature, or simply spending time with friends, residents have opportunities to do more of what they love and explore new experiences.

At Canterbury Woods, part of our mission is to help you be the best version of yourself, which means not only keeping your passions and interests at the forefront, but also ensuring wellness is an integral part of your everyday life. From physical fitness, social connection and lifelong learning to emotional health, spiritual growth, and opportunities to stay engaged, wellness can look different for everyone. However you define wellness, we’re here to support you in your journey.

Every Resident’s “Still Me” Story Is Different

There isn’t one way to live well at Canterbury Woods—and that’s exactly the point.

One resident may devote more time to volunteering. Another may rediscover a passion for art or embrace lifelong learning. Others may still find joy in continuing their career. Someone else may simply enjoy having more time for family, wellness, and meaningful friendships after leaving household responsibilities behind.

These are the kinds of resident stories that families often share—stories about older adults who continue living with purpose because they have the freedom to focus on what matters most. Canterbury Woods celebrates individuality, supports personal identity, and encourages every resident to continue writing their own story.

Sue: Continuing Her Love of Birdwatching

She has been able to continue pursuing her love of birdwatching while sharing this passion with other residents at Canterbury Woods.

“I’ve always loved birds. Now, I feed them from my patio home, compare sightings, and go birdwatching with other enthusiasts at Glen Falls and other local spots. I can still be me and find peace in nature here.” – Sue, 75

The community encourages residents to continue the activities and pursuits that make them unique, while creating opportunities to connect with neighbors who share similar interests. For Sue, that connection with nature is an important part of her everyday wellness.

“Caring for newborns and their families throughout my entire career has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Now, I care for children in a different way. I find joy and purpose in volunteering and supporting the younger generation as they learn and grow.” – Sharon, 77
